Planning a wedding from across the pond.

Transatlantic couple Beth and Ben brought New York glamour to Riverlands.

It is quite thing to book a wedding venue without even seeing it, but that is exactly what this brave couple did. Whilst living in the USA it wasn’t possible to leap across the pond to have a look, so they took a leap of faith in us – and we are so pleased they did! Despite planning it all remotely, Beth did an impeccable job – no detail was missed. What’s more they partied like it was Studio 54! Beth told us about her suppliers…

Dress and Cape – KLEINFELDS, New York (but adjustments made by “This Day Studio”).
Beth: “When I lived in the US, my mum and godmother met me in New York. They wanted to go dress shopping with me (even though I wasn’t that bothered) and so I booked Kleinfelds because we love “Say yes to the dress”. I fell in love with this Pronovias dress straight away and the cape added a bit of Galadriel from Lord of the Rings vibe to it.
Shoes – Jimmy Choo … I really wanted something colourful that I could wear again!”

The Swallow's Nest Cottage is the perfect place to get ready - just metres from the ceremony barn.

Beth: “We luckily found Daniel after my original photographer could no longer make it. He did an amazing job at making us feel relaxed, as we’re definitely “photo” people. We had a family shoot in the December before our wedding where we could get to know Daniel. I would 100% recommend him for wedding, parties or work photography.”

Beth: “I originally wanted fresh flowers but then my original flower supplier stopped doing wedding services and then I thought about the sustainability, I thought dried flowers was a great approach. They created gorgeous bouquets that I still have on my spare room dresser now, and a great hoop installation in the ceremony barn too. I didn’t want too much table decoration so they brought little glass jars and small dried flowers to dot along the tables.”

Hair and make up
Beth: “Hair for the bridesmaids was done by my gorgeous friend Sam (@beardedbeautyblogger). Between him and my cousin Amy who also used to be an MUA until recently, they also did my bridal make up.”
Bridesmaid dresses
Beth  – “All from Boohoo.com I think. We didn’t want to spend loads on dresses the girls would never wear again and these were so wearable and flattering for any figure. We also had matching pyjamas from Lindex (mine were from Desmond and Dempsey) for getting ready. Even Alba and my friend’s newborn William had matching getting ready outfits ❤️”

Alba’s dress

Beth – “Custom made by “This Day Studio”. When I needed my dress final alterations made, a friend recommended this new wedding dress atelier. I started to talk her about Alba’s outfit and the fact I couldn’t find anything really unique and something that matched my bridesmaids. We cooked up this gorgeous design and the bespoke flower collar that could be removed.”

Ben’s suit – Cock of the Walk, Hull.

Beth: “Ben waited to buy his suit until about four months before the wedding. We went to a few stores and he couldn’t find something that felt really unique for him, so we went to Cock of the Walk and had a semi bespoke suit made for him including shark lining on the waistcoat! It was the best service and experience there for a one of a kind, Hull made outfit “
